Surdegis railway station is a cultural monument of the 19th century. Several objects belong to the complex of railway station: pack house, basement, well and the building of station.
The building of station is a two-storied building decorated with woodcarvings. After the interior renovation the station performs more functions, various cheese and wine tastings, calibrations take place here. The stations is also suitable for conferences, lectures and other social events. Not only the inside of the station but also the outside attracts the tourists. In good weather tourists enjoy open air and have good time in the back yard of the station.
The building of the station is also home for one of the narrow gauge railway road workers who meets the guests and takes care of the station.
Authentic interior and the booking office at the waiting room of the station reminds of the times when it was full of passengers hurrying to the trains. The guests may take a look at historical railway lantern and ticket collections, authentic station buildings.
Not only the station but also the village of Surdegis is of great interest. Church and monastery, the legend of God’s Mother, sacred water at the well in the basement of the church attracts the attention of those traveling on the narrow gauge railway.
The station can be easily reached on train.
