„Beaujolais“ Train
On the third Thursday of November wine lovers all over the world are trying young Beaujolais wine of this year‘s harvest. Ancient monastery cell is a place, most suitable for such a solemnity. The Narrow Gauge Railway offers a trip to a fantastic tasting of Beaujolais wines held at Troškūnai Monastery. Romantic mood while travelling is enhanced by fiddle tunes and poetry. The atmosphere resembles an old stylish French movie. Greatest impressions were awaiting all travellers at the Monastery, in the hall, where a view was worth a brush by the ancient Dutch painters. Marvellous stilllife was composed of graceful Beaujolais Nouveau wine bottles, savoury cheese, meat delicacies and clusters of grapes placed on beautiful bowls. According to Saulius Filipavičius, the Priest of Troškūnai Church, wine is an old biblical symbol, speaking of fullness of joie de vivre and fulfilment of hopes. Guests invited to this wine tasting listened to a joyful concert, especially wellmatched to such a romantic atmosphere. Gintaras Kerbedis, the Director of Aukštaitija Narrow Gauge Railway, said that words by Duboeuf, the king of wines, that tasting of Beaujolais wines invites people to share their joy and explain the miraculous role played by wine – implementation of dreams, good temper, sensitivity, poetry and romanticism, served as a motto for this trip by the narrow Gauge Railway.
