Cheese degustation at Surdegis station
In the afternoon of December 8, Lithuanian narrow gauge railway invited everyone to go to the cheese degustation. The best cheeses were tasted at Surdegis Station. Surdegis was chosen on purpose. According to the legend, once upon a time not too far away from this place there was a manor. Shepherds used to drive cattle there, once built fire to grill some cheese. By distraction they burned the cheese. Since then, the place was called Surdegis (in English burned cheese). While one of the cheese presenters spoke about the origin, history and the peculiarities of the production of cheeses, other two chopped huge pieces of cheese. Photo Andrius Repšys
