Trip for the Re-establishment of the State of Lithuania
Citizens and the guests of Panevėžys who wished to celebrate the Day of the Re-establishment of the State of Lithuania gathered to Panevėžys Railway Station. The train was prepared to leave for the trip to Troškūnai.

Train decorated in national flags was waiting for its 300 passengers. People showed their patriotic feelings in different ways: some carried small flags in their hands, others had painted flags on one’s face, and members of a choir “Čiūto” came in national suits. Among numerous guests of the day were the members of church choirs and the ensemble of kanklės – a Lithuanian stringed instrument.

The trip did not take too long, passengers were in good moods, the accordion music accompanied the guests on the way. Others even sang patriotic songs. Soon the passengers of siaurukas arrived at Troškūnai railway station. Two busses took them to the village of Troškūnai were people participated in the ceremony of hoisting the national flag near the monument dedicated for the warriors for Lithuanian independence.

At twelve o’clock everyone gathered to the St. Trinity church to attend the Mass for the State of Lithuania. The Mass was offered by the priest Saulius Filipavičius who during the sermon talked about the sacred picture of Troškūnai Madonna and its relation to the re-establishment of Lithuanian independence. After the Mass everyone sang patriotic songs.

Local ethnographer Raimondas Guobis invited the participants of the festival to the undergrounds of the church. Here people heard the stories about the church and the Bernadine monks who lived in a nearby Troškūnai monastery.
After the excursion tea-time was arranged. The headwoman of the village of Troškūnai Janė Dilienė, who helped in organizing the festival, welcomed everyone. People got warn at the monastery, enjoyed hot thyme tea and meals brought from home, listened to the performance of the ensemble of kanklės (teacher Rima Mureikienė).
