Welcome of Summer
According to an article in nyksciai.lt on 17.05.09 Trying to keep up with one of the most popular Lithuanian resort in Palanga, local authority of a Lithuanian village Andrioniškis organized a festival of the pening of summer season. Bicyclists who came on the Lithuanian narrow gauge railway – SIAURUKAS were among the first guests of the festival. Having received the schemas of all the places to visit, bicyclists set forth towards Andrioniškis from which the visiting of the places started. Tourists had a possibility to choose how to travel: with a guide, who would lead to the places indicated in the schema and say some interesting facts about it or do it independently and decide upon when to travel and when participate in the events of the festival. Those bicyclists, no matter how they chose to travel, who reached and marked the places in th map were awarded a bowl of fish soup. Guests of the festival got interested in the sales and folk art fair, lively musical performance of the students from music school. People also had a possibility to enjoy beautiful nature, great music of an ensamble Ainiai in a green valley. At the peak of the festival Andreas von Stirland the Master of the Teutonic Order marched through the village with his suite. Having reached the bridge of the village people saw a strange being coming in a caravan of canoes. It was an old charming man with long grey hair. Long robe decorated with water flowers covered his body. This was how the village headman Saulius Rasalas has decided to entertain the visitors of Andrioniškis. (author of the costume – Sonata Švažaitė). Who knows, maybe this year, instead of crowdy seaside of Palanga, tourists will choose Andrioniškis and its banks of the Šventoji River.
